Julian Ovenden and Laura Pitt-Pulford sing in a newly released music video from Little Dancer.
The new musical Little Dancer has released a music video from the rehearsal room, ahead of its premiere at Theatre Royal Haymarket in February 2027. West End stars Julian Ovenden and Laura Pitt-Pulford come together to sing a song from the show: "Marie / C’est le Ballet”.
The musical, inspired by the real-life story behind Edgar Degas’ iconic Little Dancer sculpture, opened to rave reviews and sold-out runs in Washington D.C. and Seattle, as well as a sold-out concert performance at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in 2025. This is the first fully staged production in the UK.
Little Dancer tells the story of a girl with impossible dreams and the man who immortalized her. Marie van Goethem and Edgar Degas were bound together by art, ambition and the ache of wanting to matter, set in the dazzling, dangerous world of Belle Époque Paris.
The cast of the upcoming West End premiere includes:
Marie: New York City Ballet principal dancer Tiler Peck
Edgar Degas: Julian Ovenden (High Society, Downton Abbey)
Adult Marie: Laura Pitt-Pulford (Into the Woods, Standing at the Sky’s Edge)
Martine: Josefina Gabrielle (High Society, Chicago)
Directed and choreographed by two-time Olivier and five-time Tony Award-winner Susan Stroman, the musical features a book and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and music by Stephen Flaherty, the Olivier and Tony-winning team behind Ragtime, Anastasia and Once on This Island.
The creative team also includes Tony Award-winners Beowulf Boritt (set), Ken Billington (lighting) and William Ivey Long (costumes), with sound design by Kai Harada, hair and make-up by Sam Cox, projection design by Benjamin Pearcy for 59, orchestrations by Doug Besterman and Larry Hochman, and music supervision and dance arrangements by Sam Davis.
