The New Play Festival at the University of Delaware promises a first glimpse into the vibrant creativity of tomorrow's playwrights. The festival features excerpts from original works developed by the Stroman Fellows, a group of talented emerging playwrights who have spent the past year honing their craft through intensive writing, collaboration, and mentorship.
Founded by the acclaimed Tony Award-winning director and choreographer Susan Stroman, the Stroman Fellowship serves as a launching pad for new voices in theatre. This selective program is designed to empower young playwrights, fostering an environment of innovation and artistic growth.
By the program's conclusion, fellows strive to complete a full-length play. The New Play Festival not only showcases the hard work of its fellows but also perpetuates Stroman's vision of enriching the theatrical landscape with new perspectives and stories.
Join us Saturday, May 2nd at 2:00 for this exciting opportunity to support the next generation of playwrights in their creative endeavors!
