CBS Saturday morning shares how Tony Award winner Susan Stroman mentors future playwrights through a writing fellowship in her name at the University of Delaware. She has brought fellows to various Broadway shows, rehearsals of SMASH, talkbacks with famous Broadway Playwrights, and introduced them to set designers, lighting designers, and other production workers.
“It’s important to support the future playwrights. I am nothing without great writers.” Stroman said she hopes this fellowship and other programs help bring more young people into the theater world.
“It is wonderful to be in the back of a theater of something that I've created and see how it moves an audience," Stroman said. "See if they're crying, if they're laughing, if they're putting their arms around one another. There's no greater feeling."
